Happy Spring to all. What better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than featuring painter John Mac Kah's lovely oils on board. Bears are rousing, the mountains are greening up and the air is warming. Kay captures all these moments exquisitely in his paintings..

While studying art, John rebelled against the focus on abstraction and modernists styles. He yearned to return to traditional realism and as a result he is largely self taught. Inspired by the Hudson River School and the Tonalist landscape painters of the 19th and early 20th century, John enoys using the "en plein air" technique which means in open air. John feels the process of painting outdoors helps him to truly capture the fleeting aspects of light and color. John generally paints on panel or linen using traditional oils and materials.
