Go Orange for Prevent Animal Cruelty Month!

Julie Calhoun-Roepnack ceramic dog bone paper weight!
April is Prevent Cruelty to Animals month sponsored by ASPCA.  We have colored our blog orange to show our support. And to further honor this worthwhile theme we will feature a homeless pet from Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, a local no-kill shelter in Asheville, NC.  Beautiful Barbie is pictured with a description at the end of this post.

So many of the Gallery's artists have pets and highlight them int heir work.  From pottery bones as paper weights, handsome lab ceramic figures and fun colorful quilted dog purses - we have something for the dog lover of all ages.

Barbie from Brother Wolf.
Barbie is  approximately 5 years old. She wandered into a yard the first of May, 2011 weighing only 30 lbs. What no one knew at the time was that she had been poisoned or inadvertently gotten into something toxic. She gave her foster family quite the scare when blood work showed she was in liver failure. However, she rallied and pulled through with a fighting spirit. Barbie now weigh 47 lbs. and is almost completely deaf and her eyesight is quite compromised. We don't know if she was born that way or if the toxin caused some or all of it. She recently had surgery for a tumor removal - hemangiopericytoma. It was cancer, but not one that metastisizes. She is full of life and am looking for that special home I need. Please call my foster mom, Pam, at 828.778.3011 or email her at beagleblvd@att.net for more information.  Barbie certainly deserves a loving forever home after all that she has been through.  Please help by passing this along!
