Black Cats for Halloween

This is lovely Naomi, one of our staff's cats - a perfect shot for Halloween with those amber eyes. The Gallery has lots of things for the cat lover and even black cat art work for this time of year. Click on the artists name for more information about them.

Lyn Lyndall creates these leather purses from beginning to end - doing the painting, leather work and bead work. This is a favorite - looks like Naomi, doesn't it?

Jeweler Elvie Zell creates exquisite detail on her copper enameled jewelry like these black cats peering at you. Who wouldn't want one or a set of her cat earrings and necklace?

And last but not least is Brenda Schramm's new pottery holiday ornaments. This little black cat would be perfect for decorating for Halloween as well.

Thanks for stopping by. We are participating in Photo Hunt today with the theme dark and in Camera Critters. Please visit them too. Happy Halloween!

Studio Tour

Artist Graham Lawing was part of a studio tour a few weeks ago demonstrating his glass blowing techniques. Even his pup was on hand to greet art lovers taking the tour.

Customers love the lovely vases Graham makes - deep rich colors with swirls of darker shades within. Stop by the Gallery and see them for yourself!

Got the Blues?

Cheer yourself up with these lovely hand made items. The caplet is hand loomed by local artists of Trillium Clothing of rich velvety chenille - a great cover for those chilly fall evenings. The caplet can be worn with the point down as shown or squared of for an jaunty effect.

The necklace and earring set are the handwork of Amolia Willowsong, a master bead weaver who has been at this for over 25 years. The smaller glass beans showcase the dazzling titanium drusy and pearls in the necklace and sapphire and pearls in the earrings.

If you are not familiar with the term druzy - this should explain it: When ground water carrying dissolved silica is forced into a porous area of the rock, rapid cooling often occurs, causing the formation of tiny crystals on the surfaces or in cavities of the rock. The clear crystals often form on top of previously deposited minerals. This is called a drusy.

Click on the artists name for more about their work. Please visit other posts from Mosaic Monday and Blue Monday!

Silk Bags from Kathleen Lewis

These small zip bags are designed with reproduction photos, vintage postcards and original photos of the Grove park Inn. Each bag is one of a limited design series and is produced one at a time.

Boxed Holiday Cards from Cindy Hendrick

Delightful holiday cards with festive scenes of woodland creatures celebrating the Yuletide. Each package of cards are of one scene and are blank inside for you to write your own greeting.

Kavita Cropped Silk Jackets

We have been carrying Kavita silks for a number of years now and she always wows us with her styles. These are new for us - short silk jackets to wear as a cover over slacks or a simple dress.
They come in a variety of vivid colors.

Trillium Handwoven Clothing

The studio for Trillium Handwoven Clothing is high in the Appalachian Mountains, at the very western end of North Carolina, abutting the Tennessee ridge line. The business which began in 1978 with three women weavers was named trillium after the tiny spring flower with three leaves, petals and sepal.

Every piece is handwoven with the weavers winding their warps by hand, each one uniquely different from all the others. The women weave with a hand-shuttle, building the fabric a pick at a time. Trillium only uses rayon chenille that is custom dyed to their specifications, incorporating a full range palette of blended colors. The warp stripes that characterize their work blend and soften when the weft is added and the fabric finished.

The fringe in hem-stitched at either end of the scarf by hand, on loom. When the warp comes off the loom the fabric is washed and dried (this is a one time wash only). Thereafter they suggest to dry clean each caplet, scarf or shawl to give it it's characteristic flowing velvety texture.

The Gallery carries their caplets, scarves and shawls in rich velvety colors.

Reggie Reidel

Reggie's soaps are made locally with goat's milk for skin softness and PH balance, crushed black walnut shells for exfoliation (pacthcouli only). We carry Gentle Rain and Mountain Breeze fragrances at this time.

Chicago Friends

Sales Associate Billie had a surprise visit from friends, the Dickey's, from Chicago recently. They ended up buying a lovely Wayne Wichern hat and some other items from the Gallery. Must be getting ready for those long cold Chicago winters!
