Laura Fly
Laura Fly’s love of jewelry and gemstones began as a child when she created jewelry with found materials. One thing led to another and she took metalsmithing and jewelry design at a community college while still in high school. Laura earned a B.A. in art concentrating in metalsmithing and jewelry design.
Before setting up her own studio in 2001, she apprenticed for 4 years with a local jewelry designer. Laura hand-fabricates each part of her designs from sterling silver that she accents with gemstones, pearls and 14K gold. Each piece is a unique combination of stones and silver with fine craftsmanship.

Spring is Coming!
With the snowy winter we have been having. spring seems so far away but is it?.We can always add some spring to our homes with colorful handmade crafts.
Phil Brown's hand carved bluebird is life sized and looks as if he ready to take flight. He is nationally known for his birds. The deep blue glass bluebirds by glass blower Chris Smith hint of spring and flowers blooming. My favorite is the iris tile by Tzadi Turrou. Wouldn't it be nice to look outside right now and see those in bloom?
If you can't have the real thing, these lovely items will keep you going unitl springtime comes for real. Hope you enjoyed our entry to Mosaic Monday and Blue Monday. Be sure to visit the other participants in these fun memes.

Christopher Rumme
After spending nine years of his childhood in Japan, it is no surprise that his pottery reflects his unique blend of traditional Asian and European-American influences.
Christopher studied under master potters both in Iowa at Luther College,in California and Minnesota during his studies. With over 30 years of experience, his designs are displayed in many private collections and in the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh.
His unique flower motif is a spiritual statement, representing the process of growth and change. The resulting pieces achieve a subtle and pleasing harmony of form and decoration. His fire bird logo represents the enduring value of his designs.
Color Me Red!
In the drab winter months it is fun and beneficial to add some color to your wardrobe. Local fabric artist Kathleen Lewis hand makes these Hip Pockets from scrap upholstery fabric. Each one has two clips on either side to attach to belt loops for a hands free purse. You are all set to hike, shop or just go for a walk with your essentials safely tucked away.
How about a soft warm chenille scarf by Peter Lanphear to keep you snug during a chilly winter walk and in a bright cheerful red too? As a color red is said to stimulate activity, intensity and extroversion. Wear red when you need to strengthen your resolve or pursue something you want.
For more red today, please visit Ruby Tuesday and Rednesday.
